Preschool: Voluntary Pre-K

If your child will be four on or before August 15th of the school year they will attend, please call your child's school to set up an appointment to register for Preschool.

Enrollment:
Enrollment is limited to 20 children per classroom.
Children follow the school calendar and attend 180 school days.
Families will be notified within the first week before school starts if their child will be enrolled in the program.

Eligibility:

1st Priority (Tier 1) - Pursuant to state law 49-6-101: students identified as economically disadvantaged. This identification is based on income levels set each year by the Department of Health and Human Services and used during the application process to determine income eligibility for enrollment. We will consider students who don't meet the income eligibility guidelines only after all other tiers are met and these students will be enrolled by the end of September.
2nd Priority (Tier 2) - Students with disabilities, students identified as English Language Learners (ELL), in state custody, or those identified as educationally at-risk for failure due to circumstances of abuse or neglect.
3rd Priority (Tier 3) - If space for enrollment remains after identifying children who meet Tier 1 or 2, the program may enroll any child that meets the age requirement and the requirements set forth by the Community Pre-K Advisory Council (C-PAC). These students are considered unserved or underserved and may be enrolled based on income and order of received application.
Please bring proof of income, proof of residence, proof of immunization, child’s social security card, and a birth certificate to complete the application. If you have difficulty providing any of the documentation, please talk with the PK teacher.
Applications will be approved in the order they are received, based on the above criteria.

Transportation:
Transportation by bus requires a meeting with the school and transportation department and is only provided when no other means of transportation is available.

Parent Involvement:
Family Celebration meetings are held throughout the school year. Parents/Guardians are required to attend.
